After having caught up - by phone - with Lenny’s good friend for about an hour, I was once again all smiles. It just felt so good to hear her voice and to learn about the lives of her (grown-up) children and their children. And to talk about my children. And life. And to remember Lenny. Only once or twice, did things start to get emotional but we got through it. And I am committed to remaining in touch now. It is very important to me. And my parents intend to keep in touch with her too. I only wish we could all see and embrace one another.
In any event, after a couple of days had passed, I decided to text her a couple of photos of Samuel Claiborne and Jan Stacy that I had recently found on Claiborne’s Facebook page. Mind you, I do not have Facebook but somehow was able to still see some of Claiborne’s posts. He happened to have one with two images attached and he shared a brief and emotional memory of Stacy. Shortly after sending her the pictures, I received a response: “Yes sweetheart. That’s Jan Stacy.”
I can take off my detective hat now.
And once that hat was off, would you believe that while scanning for a particular image, I found Jan Stacy, right in plain view, on a tugboat, captured by Lenny’s Leica, three times.
