Some of the other “Stuff” of Life
Monday, January 11, 2021
I still haven’t opened up the box containing the slide case. I suppose the other “stuff” of life is taking over. I found myself a couple of teaching gigs and the first one, a night class (only 4 sessions) starts on Thursday. I have been preoccupied with setting things up. It’s a course I designed myself called, “Understanding Race Through the Writings of James Baldwin.” I did not hear the name James Baldwin until I got to college. A dear friend of mine (a newish friend at the time) gave me an original copy of Notes of A Native Son. At the time, I did not realize how special a gift it was. I wonder if Lenny read James Baldwin…
I did manage to scan 60 slides but did not accomplish much else. Some days are just like that. I am still struggling through my allergies as well. A younger me would have pushed myself to “get more done” but the mid-forties me understands that I can persist in the present without pushing the pace.
