This was the day for me to reflect on what I had accomplished and that I still have left to do. I spent only a small bit of quality time in the attic, doing what I have done for so much of my life: list and ponder and plan next steps…

Things still seem kind of unclear.

  • contact TimBatSea (inquire about the tugboat workers whose names are listed in Lenny’s Blue Binder

  • buy more 12X12 clear slips (for the rest of the pages of photos in the blue binder)

  • write a letter to June (and ask about Jan Stacy)

  • continue your search for that Polaroid of you & Lenny

  • start organizing the digitized slides of the photos from the blue binder into corresponding “chapter folders” on my laptop

  • move all of the original slides (in sequence) into the double-decker slide file that you dropped $60 on

  • consider visiting nyc harbor to check out the scene

  • research what the NYC tugs look like now

  • Go to Newark Bay (?) where there is supposedly a tugboat graveyard - further research where the decommissioned tugboats ended up

  • start curating and selected additional images for the book

  • look over your favorite photo essay books and take note of the publishers (compile list)

  • consider contacting a well-published black photographer was a friend of one of your friends…

  • blow the dust off of your camera case, actually take out the camera and see if that sucker even works!

  • read over the basic instructions for how to use the camera and start photographing old houses (specific ones) and old trees of Maplewood

  • figure out which of the above to do first!
