Is it smart (or fair) of me to try to begin reconnecting with the camera even as I try to make headway with this project? Part of me say, “no.” One thing at a time. Muscle through with Lenny’s project. Get it to the next stage, of presenting it to publishers. Get it done before the summer. Move it along.

The other part of me opened the camera case again today. I had a bit of a false start. When I turned the camera on, it had no juice. I found a US cable and connected it to my laptop for a bit. Then, I turned it on. No power. I opened the battery slot, took out the battery. Put it back in. Nothing. Then, after convincing myself that the battery must be dead after so many years of not being used, I started to put things away and then I noticed it: a battery charger! I plugged that sucker into the wall, snapped the battery in place and the charging light illuminated.

Later, when I turned the camera back on, it took me a couple of minutes to remember how to change the display mode so that I could see the images on the SD card. Apparently, there 590 pictures. And interestingly enough, there were of three things: my kids, old architecture (specifically residential homes), and nature (trees mostly). What is it I plan to photograph once I start learning the ropes: trees, old homes, and (if they are willing) people close to me. Hmm. Time to turn in.
