The Tugs

I spent the latter part of this day doing something that I almost always enjoy: listing. In my stubborn quest to find a couple more of the missing slides, I decided to look at each of the digitized images, taking stock of the names of the various tugs. Wow, there are (were?) a lot of them - over 40. And Jan Stacy was right: they do have character. I am perfectly comfortable with the personification of the tugboat. And once the book is published, I am confident that others will agree with me. Hands down.
The little knowledge about tugboats that I have retained is that they are often named after the various family members of their owners. For every Margaret, there is a Matthew. And there are names like Odin and Ollie. And Crow kind of looks like a bird…
I mean, one of those babies is named “Thor.” Yep. And he definitely looks like a Thor. I thought of posting a pic but you’ll just have to wait and buy the book.
